Choosing the Right Bandsaw Blade

  • Length: Matches your machine; slight size variations are usually fine.
  • Width: Ranges from 0.125" to 2". Narrower for intricate cuts, wider for resawing.
  • Thickness (Gage): Thicker blades add strength but require larger wheels. Smaller machines need thinner gages to prevent cracking.
  • Pitch (TPI): More teeth per inch (TPI) cut smoother but slower. Ideal TPI depends on material thickness—aim for at least 4 teeth engaged in the cut.
