HPS Moulder Knife

HPS® Steel Knives are manufactured in Remscheid, Germany by Erhophal GMBH. Remscheid is the center of the worlds tool steel industry. HPS is a tweaked HSS Tool Steel grade with extra Vanadium and a special proprietary Thyssen-Krupp developed heat treatment process that gives this material its unique attributes to be a modern alternative to the traditional HSS M2 grade.


Why is there more Vanadium?:

  • Vanadium has good corrosion resistance, high strength at high temperature, and
    low density. It is found in different kinds of mill forms. It has high hardness when compared to most of the steels and metals. It has high resistance to alkalis, hydrochloric and sulfuric acids found in most woods especially softwoods.
