To help pick you blades, please consider these dimensions

Overall length - This dimension is always related to your machine. Most machines will have adjustments so you can use a blade slightly smaller or larger without adverse effects.

Blade width - We offer blade beams from .125"-2" thick. The larger this dimension, the straighter it will cut. For bandsaw use, we suggest having a few different widths on hand to support intricate cuts with narrow bands to wide bands for resawing.

Thickness or Gage - Thicker gages will give your bandsaws more strength. However, the size of the bandsaw wheel should be directly considered when picking a thickness. The smaller your machine, the thinner gage you need. If your gage is too thick, it could case the blade to crack. A thicker gage will yield more strength, perfect for larger bandsaws and sawmills.

Pitch - Can be measured by the distance between teeth, such as 3/4" or this can be measured by the amount of teeth per inch, 3/4"=1.3 TPI. Try to have at least 4 teeth engaged in the cutting zone but ideally try for 8 teeth cutting at a time. Example: a 1TPI blade's minimum cut length is suggested at 4" but this blade would perform better in an 8" cut. A 14T blade has 14 teeth per inch, so with 4 teeth engaged, You could cut down to a 1/4" but the blade will perform its best in 1/2" cuts. A blade with the teeth closer together will cut slower than a blade with larger gapped teeth. A helpful formula for converting between TPI and distance between teeth is (Distance between teeth)=1/(TPI).
